Riviera Maya and the main cities surrounding the area. A 30-minute ferry ride will take you to the city of Cozumel, and a 45-minute car ride will take you to the hotel zone in Cancún,
45 minutes to the south the archaeological site of Tulúm and Puerto Morelos are only 30 minutes away bay car from Playa del Carmen.
KANTUN CHI ECO-PARK

Kantún Chi is an ecological park of cenotes and caves located in the heart of the Riviera Maya. Its name in Maya means "Mouth of the yellow stone". Come and enjoy this magical place, explore swimming in the mystical crystal waters of the Mayan world caves; be part of a place full of mystery, charm and beauty; enjoy one of the most fascinating places of the Riviera Maya and travel to this wonderful place with your family and friends; live an experience that you will always remember.

Kantún-Chi is located in the federal highway 307, just 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Cancún, 22 kilometers (14 miles) south of Playa del Carmen and approximately 2 kilometers (1 mile) south of Puerto Aventuras.
The main entrance is 200 meters south from the Hotel Barceló Maya.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUINS OF TULUM

The archeological site of Tulum is probably the best known archeological site in the Mayan Riviera; it is located within the National Park of the same name, declared as such on April 23, 1981. Tulum was one of the few Mayan settlements which was still inhabited when the Spaniards arrived in 1518 under the command of Juan de Grijalva, but that was only for a brief period, since at the end of the XVI century there weren´t any residents left.

The ceremonial precinct is surrounded by a 5 meters’ thick perimeter wall and five narrow doors that close the three land access flanks. Inside, behind the House of Chultun, lies the House of columns or Grand Palace, located front facing the House of Halach Uinic or Great Lord, whose interiors preserve a variety of carvings and paintings.

The schedule to visit the archaeological zone is: Monday to Sunday from 8:00 to 17:00 hours.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUINS OF COBA

The archeological site of Cobá is the perfect place for a bicycle adventure, riding through the jungle while discovering the secrets of the ancient Mayan civilization. The city of Cobá originated during the late Preclassic period (100-250 AD) and had great commercial, political and ritual importance, reflected to this day in the connections with other Maya cities through roads that measure 100 km called sacbés (these roads are currently covered by thick jungle).

The archeological site is made up of 6,500 buildings, of which the Grupo Cobá, Macanxoc and Nohoch Mul stand for containing the largest buildings, such as temples, platforms, pyramidal bases and stelae constructions with hieroglyphic inscriptions. The Mayan archaeological site of Cobá is located about ninety kilometers east of Chichen Itza and about forty Northwest of Tulum, covering about 70 square kilometers.

AKUMAL BEACH IS FAMOUS FOR BEING ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PLACES IN THE CARIBBEAN FOR SEA TURTLES, ESPECIALLY FOR THE GREEN SEA TURTLE. EVERY YEAR, HUNDREDS OF THEM CHOOSE THE CALM WATERS OF AKUMAL BEACH FOR EATING AND REPRODUCING JUST FOLLOW FEDERAL HIGHWAY 307 TOWARDS TULUM FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES AND YOU WILL REACH AKUMAL. IT IS ALSO EASY TO REACH AKUMAL BY BUS FROM PLAYA DEL CARMEN.

SIAN KA'AN BIOSPHERE RESERVE

The Sian ka'an biosphere reserve is one of Mexico's largest protected areas. It covers 528,000 hectares and is located in the Riviera Maya, in the Quintana Roo state. It was declared as Biosphere Reserve of the year in 1986 and the following year, a world Heritage Site (natural) by the UNESCO. The reserve has several well differentiated ecosystems, including jungle and wetlands; 4 types of mangroves, petenes, dunes, lagoons, and different kinds of beaches. The Mayans called the place Sian Ka'an "place where the sky is born". Today, the area is a natural reserve (now a biosphere Reserve) covering 527,000 hectares, located very close to Tulum.

The Riviera Maya stands out for its beautiful natural and archeological scenery, but also for having an enviable nightlife from Monday to Sunday. It offers excellent alternative bars and clubs for all tastes so everyone can enjoy the nightlife in Playa del Carmen. The greater part of the clubs and bars are located in the 5th Avenue and 10th Avenue.
